Obituary of Chester Niewinski


Chester J. Niewinski, 91, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2017 at the Baptist Health Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born and educated in Plymouth, PA. Chester proudly defended his country in the United States Army from 1944- 1946. He was part of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment as well as the 101st Airborne Division. Chester married his beloved late wife Regina on July 30, 1947. Chester and his wife moved to New York and he started working for General Electric in Schenectady as a Plumber Steamfitter. Chester retired after many faithful years from General Electric. He was a former member of the Local 128 Steamfitters, former commander of the VFW post 4660 and a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Glenville. Chester enjoyed bowling, the polka, playing the accordion and the harmonica. He was known to many as a handy man, He even had “Chet’s Fix It Shop”. Chester in survived by his children Charles (Kay Anstett) Niewinski, Charlene Niewinski and Michael (Sandy Demars) Niewinski. He also was the beloved grandfather to Brittany Clark. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by his brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial for Chester will be held on August 10, 2017 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 73 Midline Rd, Ballston Lake, NY. Burial with military honors will follow at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
