Obituary of Kenneth Streifert

Kenneth W. Streifert, 79, passed away suddenly in the comfort of his home on February 14, 2019. Born in Niskayuna, he was the son of the late Leonard and Dorothea Streifert. Ken was educated in the Schenectady schools and went on to continue his education at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York where he met his beloved wife Charlotte (Jardine) Streifert. He and Charlotte were married on September 10, 1960 at the Lake Ave Baptist Church in Rochester, NY. Kenneth proudly defended his country in the Army from 1962 to 1964. He worked for 40years at Atlas Copco Comptec LLC in Voorheesville, NY as a mechanical engineer where he retired from in 2005.  During his time there he developed several patents. Kenneth and his family had a small farm where he enjoyed working the land and growing fruits and vegetables. Kenneth enjoyed carpentry and was known as “Mr. Fix It”. Ken was an avid hunter and fisherman and taught a gun safety class at the former Mohawk Game Club. He also loved his time spent boating and fishing on the Saint Lawrence River. Kenneth was a member of the Burnt Hills United Methodist Church. Ken will be remembered as an animal lover, especially for his golden retrievers, whom he took passion in training. Above all, he loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was predeceased by his beloved wife Charlotte (Jardine) Streifert on November 17, 2016 and his brother Keith Streifert.

He is survived by his beloved children Karlynn Streifert, Scott (Kathleen) Streifert and Suzanne (Eric) Harris. Ken’s grandchildren Jordan Streifert, Claire Harris and Ethan Harris and many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends also survive.
